I have been working therapeutically for over 34 years. For me this profession started while employed in a residential therapeutic community setting for primary aged children who had experienced very traumatic early life relationships.
I align myself with the Person-Centred theoretical model. A way of engaging therapeutically which (I believe) understands the individuals’ need for a supportive, non judgemental, less intrusive, compassionate environment within which to explore and better understand him/her self. This very humanistic way of engaging therapeutically, works well with the nature based working context of ecotherapy.
My professional journey, since qualifying, has taken me into many areas of client work. I have worked as a Counsellor, Supervisor and Trainer. I’ve developed and run projects based in a wilderness setting, have worked for the psychiatric service, private sector, local authorities and academic institutions.
I have had articles published in: Horizons (The Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor Leadership) and the Journal of the World Association of Person Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy and Counselling.
