I qualified as a Progressive Counsellor in 1995 after receiving counselling myself to help overcome an emotional trauma in my late teens, which was still resonating in me so many years on and affecting much of my life and relationships. The freedom I felt and the re-connection to myself I experienced following progressive counselling was a deeply spiritual and life enriching process and the catalyst for me to train myself so that I could help others.
I was drawn to the description of Progressive Counselling as being ‘an intuitive art, requiring a great depth of wisdom, understanding and unconditional love’. The rewards were incredible, not only did my own intuition develop and grow, I was able to help people at a much greater depth of awareness and this is the way I work with clients; getting to the depth and truth of a situation with love and understanding.
I work with both short term issues which may only need a few sessions to resolve, as well as long term issues which may take a number months of commitment to regular sessions to work through.
If you would like help with past trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, life after divorce, depression, anxiety, life direction, or have a sense of not fully embracing your life’s potential then Progressive Counselling may be able to help you.
If you would like to know more about my approach to counselling please feel free to contact me and we can arrange a time for an initial (free) phone consultation.
Additional info about me:
In the last few years I have also started to work with the therapeutic power of nature and horses. I offer Walk and Talk counselling sessions and Equine Assisted Therapy near Dunbar, East Lothian – both powerful ways to help people connect to their senses, become more embodied and move out of the analytical head-based thinking state.
Being outside in the elements helps people get back in touch with their heart, and their feeling state. When connecting to nature we slow down, becomes more aware of our inner and outer environment, and from there, everything starts to become clearer. I love the way that being present in the moment, in nature, brings us to a greater awareness of our senses and our inner wisdom. In the words of the naturalist, John Muir: “and into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul”. If you would like to know more about either the Walk and Talk sessions and the Equine Assisted Therapy , please get in touch with me.
