Personal difficulties are generally overcome using our own inner strengths and abilities, most commonly with the help of friends and family. However there can be times when we know it would be more useful for us to have the help of another who is not connected to us. Psychotherapists can be that other whose interest and skills are to support you in your finding a way through, over or around whatever is stopping you progress in your work, relationships or life.

My practice is as an Integrative Psychotherapist with a psychodynamic inclination. I think that we are, at any point in time, an expression of all the experiences, mind, body and spiritual in our lives, though much of this can be unconscious to us. At times of struggle or distress or when we find ourselves travelling the same road we have before but know it isn’t the best road now, we use patterns of thinking, behaving and feeling that have been created in the past while not able to create new ways of being to meet the difficulties we are experiencing in the present. As such, though we will be working together on what is problematic now we will at times explore parts of the past.

I have worked with a wide array of emotional and psychological issues with adults, from loss and bereavement; anxiety and depression; relational issues; the impact of medical diagnoses such as cancer and people experiencing despair.

In addition to my work with adults I offer therapeutic work with children, young people, parents and carers, including foster care or adoption using play, art and project work to strengthen emotional resilience, self-confidence and self-esteem; following bereavement and loss; anxiety and depression; school based issues such as school phobia and bullying. I teach practitioners wanting to work with children and young people in therapeutic and non-therapeutic settings.
