BA(Hons) Fine Art
PG Dip Supervision
I’ve been working as a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist for over 15 years, having taken a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling at Strathclyde University in 1998. I’ve worked in a wide range of voluntary sector organisations, in private practice and, since 2003/4 – with Edinburgh College of Art and Edinburgh University Student Counselling Services. Since 2007 I have supervised both qualified counsellors and students/trainees, graduating with a Post Graduate Diploma in Supervision from Temenos in 2009. I now maintain a private practice offering psychotherapy/counselling, supervision, academic supervision and consultancy.
I work as a group facilitator for Edinburgh University School of Counselling & Psychotherapy.
I believe that people have within them the possibility of finding better strategies by which to live more functional and fulfilling lives; I aim to provide warmth, respect, acceptance and responsiveness whilst helping clients to locate and use their own resources, resolve problems and difficulties and to find better ways of managing their lives. I work across a broad range of issues and problems, and am happy to work with couples as well as individuals. I offer both short term and long term counselling and psychotherapy. I’m also able to offer supervision for trainees and experienced counsellors of all modalities as well as academic supervision and consultancy. I have some experience of supervising people from other professions outside the counselling arena and am enthusiastic about developing this aspect of my practice.
Prior to becoming a counsellor I worked as an artist, in restaurants and in charity administration/fundraising.
I am a registered member of BACP and abide by their Ethical Code of Conduct.
