PG Dip Counselling, MBACP (ACCRED), MA Hons, MCIBS
I qualified as a counsellor in 2007. In this work I draw on over 20 years experience as a mentor and coach where I have supported people in achieving their goals, – personal, business, individual, team and family. I work with individuals to help them unlock their frustrations, express their thoughts and feelings. I offer a safe and confidential non-judgemental environment for people who wish perhaps simply to be heard or to find a way to change, grow, share, learn. The heart of my work is the relationship and trust built between me and the client. Sometimes this develops very quickly, sometimes it takes time. Always it is unique with each individual I meet.
I seek to help clients make sense of themselves and difficulties they are facing. This may involve exploring emotions, spirituality, thoughts, key people in their lives. The work may involve looking at past experiences as well as issues being faced in the present. I have particular experience of working with relationships, stress, anxiety, abuse, depression, self confidence, loss, sexuality, trauma, disordered eating.
My core model of working is psychodynamic which I integrate with Kelly’s Personal Construct Theory. This is about making meaning through the eyes and experience of the client. I have trained in dreamwork and can integrate this and imagery into my work where appropriate and through discussion with the client.
I have completed training in EMDR and Brainspotting both of which are approaches particularly suitable for working with trauma. I have also completed training at the Toronto Traumatology Institute in Compassion Fatigue.
As a coach I am a contributor on the London Business School Executive Development Programme.
What I ask of myself in my work and life is to hold true to my personal values which include integrity, respect, tolerance, acceptance and honesty.
I am fluent in French and am happy to offer counselling to French speaking clients in their mother tongue.
